Sadiq Khan announces plans of London T-Charge

This month London Mayor Sadiq Khan explains new plan to start charging a T-Charge for both Petrol & Diesel drivers travelling in the area. As well as the £11.50 congestion charge, the new toxicity levy will add another £10.00 to the trip through London but only on vehicles that do not fall into the Euro-4 Emissions standards and are registered before 2005.
The changes are set to be put into place for 2017. Also the plan to introduce the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone will come a year earlier in 2019 and beyond central London from 2020 onwards. This will include Cars, Vans , Lorries and buses which fail to meet the emissions criteria are to be charged £12.50 upwards.
Khans push in cracking down on emissions is because of the large number of deaths caused in London each year due to air pollution. Last year it was reported as many as 10,000 died due to the toxic air in London. In a recent interview he stated that "I’m launching a hard-hitting plan of action to clean up our filthy air. Tough challenges call for tough measures, so I’m proposing a new £10 charge for the most polluting vehicles in central London from 2017, followed by an even stronger crackdown on vehicles pumping out hazardous pollutants."
